The following is a statement from Pete Walker, of MAP Events, on behalf of Yorkshire MAG.
As you will be aware there is currently a worldwide pandemic of coronavirus. The situation as it stands now is unprecedented and no one knows exactly what’s going to happen and what the impact is going to be on all parts of our lives.
This said, we at Yorkshire MAG rally towers (it’s a shed in a garden) have taken the stance that we carry on with business as usual. All the rallies – Into the Valley, Farmyard Party and the Yorkshire Pudding – are, as far as we are concerned, a GO.

We have booked the venues, the traders, the caterers, all the services such as toilets, generators – in fact, everything right down to the bands playing and the people clearing the rubbish when you have to go home and face the real world again.
The reality is, only two things will possibly stop us from putting these events on (giving you a brief chance to escape from the current doom and gloom) and they are the Government and you, our faithful customer.
As in other parts of the world, the Government could introduce legislation banning public gatherings beyond the date of one of our events. There isn’t really a lot we can do about that; however if that does happen, we promise that we will do one of the following:
1. Postpone the rally until a future date
2. Make your ticket valid at one of our later rallies
3. Reimburse you.
Whatever happens you won’t be out of pocket.
The second reason we could have to cancel a rally is that you do not buy pre-book tickets before the rallies. If the general feeling becomes let’s wait and see what happens and then book just before the event or on the gate, then this places us in a difficult and unprecedented position as we simply cannot go into a rally weekend not knowing whether or not we are going to break even. This course of action will have to be made in advance because of the contractors who will supply services, marshals who take holidays for build-up, the event and the strip down.
So, like we say, trust in us and we assure you we will come through for you if the Government permits, but if you don’t buy pre-book tickets we simply can’t let our marshals give up their holidays and let our loyal service suppliers down by not being able to pay them.
Keep well, keep safe and we WILL see you in a field soon.
Ride free, because this is why we do what we do.
For once, KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON (nothing going on here) means just that…
