You don’t see many custom Bantams, BSA Bantams, these days (or back then either actually), so this one of Barry’s is a bit good. It was originally a very battered 1951 D1 125cc that he bought from a guy in Bristol, and crammed into the back of a, get this, a Fiat Panda (not the roomiest car in the world!) to bring it back to his native London. That was in 2015…
It now runs a later D7 175cc motor, the forks’ve been shortened and the front hub laced to a 21” rim to give the big front wheel look. The frame’s stock, as is the tank, and I particularly like the way the bike shows signs of its age here and there – I mean, it is 70 years old!
