Nick’s 66 Genny Shovel Chop was mostly built by himself, with some help from friends.
Bike is a 66 generator shovelhead in a repro knucklehead frame. I bought it as a swinger during the first lockdown from a guy in Boston who did an amazing job finding all the period parts (Hap Jones tank, zel headlight, cheat’ah sissy bar, lots more).
I don’t know the bikes history but it came with a revtech 5 speed box, s&s heads and a very early s&s carb, and judging by the state of the oil, I’d say the motor had never been run since it was rebuilt. It definitely runs now, the f*cken things a beast.

I ran it in the stock swinger frame for a year or so but rigid’s where its at so when a repop frame appeared on FB I bought it. I was stuck for a while on the oil tank, most people who build a shovel chop sack off the starter motor and fit a panhead oil tank but I was riding 15 years before I got my first bike with electric start so I’ve been done with kicking since 1992.
Eventually someone told me an 80s evo softail tank would fit, oddly enough the very man who’s bike first inspired me to want a genny chop.. Fortunately one of my best friends is an ace welder so once I had the tank we managed to get the whole rebuild done in two weeks.
Few words about me… got my first bike in 1977, my first British bike in 1984, my first American bike in 2011. Had the same Norton since 1985, I’ve ridden that bike nearly 100,000 miles, it still gets regular use (including the odd track day) but mostly now I prefer my 1975 electraglide. Recently relocated from London to Cornwall where I’m refurbishing an ancient cottage with a large garage.
