1960 Triumph 5TA Speed Twin | Brag Your Bike

by

1960 Triumph 5TA. I rebuilt and polished the engine. It has an aftermarket hardtail with a 4” drop and 2” stretch. I added the top tube to the front section of the frame so it looks like a 650cc frame. Mooneyes oil tank , replica deep tunnel wassell tank and fender. One off fender strut, one off seat and mounting brackets, one off exhaust. One off chain tensioner. Original rear hub laced to a 19” rim and front hub is a from Yamaha DT175. I modified a Honda Shadow rear brake drum stay, and fitted and Royal Enfield brake pedal. I molded and prepped the frame, tank, fender and took them to a local body shop where is was finished in VW polar silver.

I was looking for a vintage British bike and this came up for sale on a local website.

The guy who imported it in Malta had the intention to use it as a daily. He soon realized that was not a good idea. I do not have any sort of history about this Triumph apart from that it came from the UK and it was 90% original . At some point in its life it had the bathtub replaced for a shorter mudguard.
