1988 XLH 1200 Sportster | Brag Your Bike

Only ever having completed restorations before, this is my first ever custom build. The aim was to build a Harley Davidson which reflects an English man’s take on an American classic. The donor bike was a black Sportster XLH 1200 purchased in 2020 taking 5 years to complete.

The main modifications include :-

Changing the front forks to a springer set of forks (+2″) complete with 21″ front wheel.

The rear swing arm has been extended by 2″ and braced to allow the instalation of a rear mono shock complete with an 18″ rear wheel.

The oil tank has had to be repositioned to the front of the frame to allow the installation of the mono shock..

The engine has been totally stripped and rebuilt as stock with the exception of the carb being upgraded to a Mikuni HSR42 and a hand built stainless steel exhaust system utilising a CCM Flat tracker silencer.

The electrics have been totally replaced using a MotoGadget mo.unit blue linked to an Ultima digital ignition system.

The single seat is supported on a golf buggy leaf spring

The colour of the bike, whilst some people would say is Magnolia is an old English racing white.
