Happy new year! Yes, here we are, just a few days into 2018, and already your pals at BSH are delivering the February issue. Worked our butts off in the run-up to Christmas, we did!
It’s packed with stunning bikes, images to drool over, latest news and some hard-hitting opinions too.
The latest bike to grace the magazine’s cover is FootLoose, from the imagination and skilled hands of Eric de Noorman. Having triumphed over adversity (and coincidentally, it’s a 1963 Triumph 6T Thunderbird), Eric has created this magnificent beast in his workshop in Holland.
Photographer extraordinaire Simon Everett has been out and about creating pin-sharp images of some of the finest custom bikes you’ll see this year. There are two for the price of one from our visit to The Motorcycle Workshop in West Sussex, where a pair of 21st century Kawasaki W650s have been given a classic retro style.
Go Caerphilly now… and Simon has visited the land of castles, leeks and dragons to check out the magic that happened when a Fenland Choppers frame met the clever chaps at Trike Design. And he was also on board when Paul Cardy revealed his latest creation… Velocity Baby, a fully faired BMW that looks like a rocket and goes like one too. Don’t let Kim Jong Un see this one…
The girls get a shout out this month too as Viki explains how she rides Mr Hardy to get rid of the stresses and strains of life. ‘Bollocks to Prozac,’ says the heading, ‘Medicate by motorbike’… if you’d like to see this amazing creation by Smiley Monkey Custom Cycles, make sure you get your February BSH now!
Dave M is also back in the saddle this month as he visits Nigel Penn to find out how fate lent a hand in his latest creation, a Sportster chop that attracts admiring glances from young and old alike.
Editor Nik road-tests the new Harley-Davidson Fat Bob and Street Bob, and if you’re into the wisdom of ancient Greek tragedians, we have just the feature for you in the shape of Jethro Tozer’s 1981 Yamaha XS650, his first venture into the world of custom building.
And if all that isn’t enough to satisfy your post-festivities cravings, we have a five-page Motorcycle Live report, masses of photos from Plymouth Megaride, Blackhills Custom & Classic, Brackley Festival of Motorcycling and Manchester Rock & Bike Fest. Mr Bridges gets stuck into the techy stuff while Selina of MAG gives an update on the group’s latest activities.
If you’re looking for events to attend this year, there are pages of shows, rallies, parties and get-togethers already in the BSH diary. Other regulars include those entertaining Readers’ Lives photos – five pages this month! – and some more wit and wisdom from Rick Hulse.
If you’re not already a subscriber, why not make it your new year resolution to sign up for a great deal?
